U31 RECIPIENT OF TWO AWARDS OF MERIT AT ANNUAL ARIDO AWARDS
U31's partners, Kelly Cray and Neil Jonsohn were among 29 recipients at the 2017 ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) Awards gala held last Thursday evening at the Sheraton Centre Hotel. Over the past 35 years, the ARIDO Awards has been one of the most prestigious honours in the interior design industry, showcasing excellence, innovation and originality.
The SQ at Alexandra Park condominium won an Award of Merit in the 'Multi-Family Residential and Marketing Centres' category. This 14 storey, Tridel development, situated at Queen Street West & Spadina Avenue is a dynamic, contemporary addition to the eclectic neighbourhood. Geometric forms, reflecting the building's 'cubist' facade, slatted wood ceilings, white back-painted glass wall panels and dramatic black/metal accents combine to articulate a luxurious yet understated residence.
The second Award of Merit in the 'Private Residence' category recognized U31's opulent 'North Toronto Estate'. The vast 25,000 square foot residence strikes a balance between contemporary glamour and approachable, casual abode. Communal areas are injected with bright jewel-toned, mid-century inspired forms, expressing an energetic, youthful flavour, while master bedroom suites feature serene elements such as elegant white marbles paired with mother-of-pearl and gilded accents, creating an idyllic residential retreat.
